Our Hoist

Our hoist is new for the 2025 season!
It has been so kindly supplied to us by Holistic Thinking Holidays. Clearly, we at Beach Ability are incredibly thankful for this support. We are certain our users agree what a valuable asset to our service this is and share our gratitude to Holistic Thinking Holidays.

Please be aware that we do not have an indoor premises.

Our chairs and hoist are stored in a container that is not large enough or appropriate for use to transfer inside. Therefore, transfer into our chairs must take place outside on the seafront promenade, in an area next to our container. Please let us know at the time of booking if your require the use of our hoist so that we can make sure this area is clear for you.

Our hoist is an Oxford Midi 170 Hydraulic Mobile Hoist.

This hoist has a maximum user weight of 170kg (26 stone 10 pounds.) You will need to provide your own sling.

The Beach Ability Team are volunteers who are not qualified to advise or determine if the hoist is suitable for the intended user. They are also not qualified or insured to operate the hoist, or demonstrate how it works. It is totally the responsibility of the intended user, and/or their carers to determine that the hoist is suitable for the user, compatible with the sling being used and to operate the hoist to complete the transfer.

You can find the instruction manual for our hoist by clicking on the button below. This will ask you to download the manual to view. Please ensure that you read this information prior to your visit.  If you have any problems viewing this information, please let us know at the time of booking.
